My new "tractor gun" is a 7.5" 22lr AR pistol. I plan on shooting an occasional grondhog, probably under 100 yards. I stuck a Holosun circle dot on it and the dot is just too big. I was looking at the PSA Cyclops, but maybe a magnified optic would be better. I have an old Tasco 3-12x40 I would try if I had a mount.
Budget is around $200

Find a used vortex strike eagle , solid scope for mid to close critters . Growing up I used a m77/22mag , that and the addition of green star was a bad experience for any coyote or prairie dog I got around , shooting at 4 miles an hour isn’t that hard with practice

Regarding red dots, I've found any dot larger than a 2moa is overkill .  You'll lose a groundhog behind a 4moa dot.

I'd go with a scope like the OP mentioned.  A 3-9 to 3-12x would provided enough magnification for small critters at 100 yards.

Weaver classic if you don't need illumination. Weaver classic extreme if you do.

Whats a good, budget scope mount? I think I will stick my old tasco on it.

You can do better than any of those options in similar or the same price ranges

My tractor gun gets lots of heat, vibration, and bumps.  Neither Tasco scopes nor budget scope mounts hold up to these.

The minimum I'd trust would be something like a Primary Arms 4-14 in a Aero mount.  I have one set up like that and I'm about $300 into it.
