My recent "all purpose" build is complete and I finally spent the coin on an Aimpoint T2 with an ADM lower 1/3 mount, love it. I currently run Magpul Pros as BUIS but I've been itching to have a fixed front sight. After doing some quick reaction drills, I find that I can get on target a tad quicker with the front sight deployed, I guess because I can pick it up quicker than the dot and can use it as a point of reference.

So... I want to try a fixed front sight post and see how that goes. I've read that the two popular ones are the Troy and DD options, but have also seen Scalarworks thrown into the mix recently. Honestly, I don't want anything super bulky or heavy, just something at a true height and low profile. I've even seen one from UTG Pro that is low profile as well made of 6061-T6, about the same profile as my front Magpul Pro deployed.

Any suggestions are appreciated!

Troy and DD are what I use. Not much difference between the two

Samson also makes one I've had good experience with other than DD.

I've been using the DD fixed sights for almost ten years.  They're gtg. Very narrow with no bulk or screws or anything sticking out.

I keep meaning to stick a same plane aperture in one but haven't yet.

I agree, they're budget-friendly and they make great thumb stops on 10 and 12" rails.

Magpul or Troy for folding sights and fixed sights are DD or Troy.
