Looking to replace my NXS 1-4 on my 5.56 SPR. What are some good updated choices?

Save another few months and get an ATACR 1-8.
Best 'SPR' reticle in an LVPO imo.

True statement. For SPR.
I actually prefer the NX8 reticle for a usable 1-8x

The NX8 is what I went with. The ATACR is just too much for what you get, its getting solidly into NOD territory, and night vision trumps LPVOs.

I like the NX8 quite a bit, I've settle on it after the Trij1-8, the Trij VCOG, the Vudu, the Vortex, the USO offerings, Leupolds Mk6 and the Mk8... I've played with most of them out there.

Swarovski Z6i/Z8i.

It is hands down the best glass I have ever used for a LPVO.  It is a SFP optic though, so if you want FFP I would recommend NX8 because it's really the only game in town anymore.

Since Swaro 1-6 is mentioned. Kahles K16i is worth a look too!

Z8i isn't tactical but it is amazing in every way

My K16i leaves me want for nothing

Since you already have a Nightforce NXS scope, have you looked at the Nightforce NX8 1-8x?

I have, but I haven't handled one or used one. Are they nice?  What are the downsides?

I have every scope mentioned in this thread and many others.  I honestly like my Swarovski Z6i best.  Z8i would be a great option too.  I like the Swarovski best because of the reticle (I like it better than my Kahles)  and it's second focal plane.  I personally don't care for first focal plane AR scopes like the Nightforce.

VCOG. Light and VERY durable. That matters.

just my experience but i labored over which LPV to get, tried a couple and one day i came to the conclusion that my primary use was on 1x.

once i figured that out, the trijicon accupoint won. started with a tr24. next will be the 1-6x. really like the german #4 in my tr24. triangle should be good too though.

now for my next project, to find the perfect 1-8x that works best on 8x.....

Light? It's literally one of the heaviest 1-6's out there. Without a mount, it's like a MK6 WITH a mount. As to durable, none of the data I've seen on it suggests that except for Trijicon's website.

Agreed. I've had mine for years now and it still impresses me every time I take it out.

Beat me to it. It's built like a tank and it shows on the scale.

I thought it's 21oz. with the mount? That's what I remembered hearing(MrGnG I think), but it's 23.3 without the mount or battery. Planned on buying it next. Maybe that NF will get the call. They have good warranties and service?

This. For DMR/SPR usage, reticle design is important. Nothing else even comes close to the ACSS.

Wait for the Griffin MIL platinum 1-8.

What is the ETA for the Griffin MIL platinum 1-8?

Why a 1X on an SPR??

If it's an SPR I'd go with something in the 2.5-10 range at a minimum, would prefer something in the 14-18 top end range.

Sadly the ETA is Q4. But IMO the Griffin Platinum will be worth it.

This; mine is great. I currently have it on a Noveske Recce, but will move it to a 308 gas gun as soon as I figure out which one I’m getting.

Yup, PST gen2 2-10x would be a fine choice.

GETTEN code gets you another 10% off right now at OP

That puts the March 1-8 shorty under your target $ and the March 1-10 just above.

Personally, I’ve always viewed the SPR as a true RECCE in terms of performance and capabilities.

I think a 1-8x is ideal for it because it will allow someone to run and gun and reach out.

If one were to build a super heavyweight, bull barrel, A2 stock with a 20-24” barrel, then I think a 2.5-10.

But at that point, get an AR10 in my honest opinion.
