There is about $400 or so difference.
I've never had a "good" optic, so I'm wanting to buy one.
Don't know where any are that I can look at in person, so I'll have to take a chance by ordering.

Have the TA44 circle dot and the Aimpoint Micro also have a Aimpoint Comp M4S

All on different rifles set up for different purposes

If I had to chose one the Comp M4s would be it.

I wouldn't want to have to give up my TA44 as a yard gun for daytime inside 50yds for me works really well.

If those are my two choices I'd go with the Micro.  I just don't see the benefit of the 1.5x magnification.  I'd rather have the RDS.  If I thought I needed magnification I'd go with a low powered variable.

Aimpoint micro unless there is a particular need that acog fills and the Aimpoint doesn't.  For shorter ranges a red dot is still the best for me personally.

I guess the decision would be based upon your normal use. Inside 100 I like the aim point micro.

For a good compromise (under 50 over 100) it's hard to beat the ACOG.

I've had a Aimpoint Micros and the TA44 with circle dot reticle. Which is better depends on your intended use. The TA44 is nice outdoors at 25+ yards, but the Aimpoint is better indoors in low light which makes it more versatile IME.

FWIW, the ACSS reticle is neat, but not really necessary in a 1.5x optic and distracting at closer ranges. I'd have preferred if the holdover marks were not illuminated.

Aimpoint micro.

ETA: to explain my position more I can't see the extra .5x magnification being that much more of an advantage at the 300+ yards than it being a disadvantage when in close.

The TA44 is a great optic but the micro is a more well rounded sight.

TA44 hands down.

I respect the hell out of Aimpoints but a simple dot is just a simple dot, and they have never floated my boat because of that.

The ACSS is so much more useful and is one of the smartest reticule patterns I have seen

between those two?

TA44.

If you hate it, you can sell it for close to what you have in it, and order the other optic + ammo.

AP Micro and use the savings to purchase an EoTech G33.  1x-3x v. 1.5x.

For something I may ever use indoors like a bedside rifle, the Aimpoint is a strong preference. For a general purpose outdoor optic, I strongly prefer the TA-44. Both work in either purpose, but relative to one another that's how I like them. I have both, and use them for those respective purposes.

ACOGs wash out in adverse lighting conditions.  If you need it indoors or at night forget the ta44 go with the aimpoint.

If there is ever an led ta44 I'll be all over it.  Until then my t2 is good enough.

Aimpoint if it's going to be home defense(indoors) acog if it's anything else.

Micro, no question.  Faster, lighter, not as problematic in different lighting...and less expensive.

Between those? probably the ACOG if you can swallow the price. Not really a tube micro fan. I went full micro and got a RMR for my rifle. Just personal preference.

I also have a T2,T1,MRO,CompML3,Deltapoint Pro,& a RMR

I have owned probably 4 or 5 ACOGs a couple other aimpoints and even a Leup Mark4 CQT

For me its easier to get on target don't have to search around ymmv

I like the AAs and the improved switch in the s (lower) configuration would take it over all the others including any LPV out there
for my HD set up.

Why not an Aimpoint Patrol Optic?(PRO)

I have the ta44 acss and I'm a fan, but IMO you can't really go wrong with either, they are both solid performing optics.

I would give the edge to the ta44 because of the reticle being more than a dot has more uses like ranging a person or object, and that tiny bit of magnification is helpful at some distance.

Acog not perfect though there is issue with reticle visibility in certain lighting situations, IMO it's pretty minimal but happens. When you are in the dark looking into light, the acog reticle shows up a nice crisp black, but if it's shady, not dark and your looking into a brightly lit area the tritium can't properly light the reticle and the fiber optic doesn't gather enough light so you can loose the center of the reticle on lighter colors and mottled surfaces ex- off white stucco wall or a tan asphalt shingle roof. But you can still pick up the outer ring just fine so depending on distance your shooting it's not a major issue. I have a green ta44 so the red could show up better in those conditions

I prefer an AimPoint (T-2 or M4) plus magnifyer.  More versatile.  Also prefer a LPV, but then ACOG's just never really did it for me.

Well, what do you want the rifle to be better at?  Close in or farther out?

How about the Holosun ACSS and a FTS magnifier.  With the magnifier, it's easy to see the ACSS markings.

First, this is coming from a TA44 lover. But...

The micro is a tough optic to beat.  Unless you have a bad astigmatism I cant think of anything that the ACOG does better than the micro.

Further, if you're going to accept the downside of a scope (eye box, scope shadow, eye relief, slower at CQB) why not go low power variable or something that will aide in target ID/precision like a TA33?
