I was there looking for a scope and rings - actually a Millet Tactical DMS - and they said I needed to remove it or it would decrease the light entering my scope and obscure the sight picture.    Well....do I?

Funny I have a Burris 3x9 scope on my 6.8 with a regular front sight post and have not noticed.

The only thing you might see is a blurry shadow of the front sight. It will be out of the depth of focus for most scopes due to how close it is to the scope.

Does the blurry shadow cause a problem with the sight picture?

Consider the source of the recommendation and act upon it accordingly.

IMHO, don't worry about it.

But what do I know, I'm just another internet commando.

QFT!

The person at Gander who told you that is an asshat!

Some people find the FSB to be disconcerting, when they look through a scope, but that is a personal preference.

only on very low power do you even notice it ,1 to 1.5x .

I have several scoped AR's and have not removed the front sight post on any of them.... you won't even notice it's there.

This, and the following post of "You won't even know it's there." It won't show up once you get past 2.5 roughly, and does not adversely affect anything.

It's like ringing in my ears...I don't usually notice it until people start talking about it...or I read about it.

Shit..there it goes again.....

Over 4 power it will not be visible.

I don't even notice it at all with my ACOG, and it's a lowly 4X scope. It's there, but it's real small, and completely out of focus. I wouldn't worry about it.

Now if you're FSB is so big it blocks all light entering the scope it might be a problem, but otherwise I'd say leave it on.

Gander Mountain doesn't require much firearms knowledge for those that work in the gun department in my experience.

Bullshit. I run a Millet DMS on mine and have had no problems at all.

I use a Leupold Mark AR 1.5-4 and although I can see the shadow on 1.5x, it's just a shadow and of no consequence.

As far as reducing my light, maybe I should tell the scope that since I was still able to see through it just fine through the middle of the night last night with a red cover on a spotlight calling in Coyotes.

I went to a Gander Mountain one time and asked to look at a Sig 556 and the clerk said no, as I need to have a special permint to own one......I almost pulled out my Subway frequent sandwich buyer punch card to see if that would sufice!!!!  I loked at him and said I would see him back at the clubhouse on Mars.

This is no joke....I will never walk back into a GM.....
