I recently acquired a Second generation Short Dot (thanks to the EE). I can tell you the dot is absolutely daylight visible, not just sometimes or when it's cloudy, but is visible in bright sunlight. The dot is damn close to being as fast as an aimpoint (aimpoint doesn't have eye relief or scope shadowing issues however like the Short Dot does) The reticle gives you a fair amount of choice in setting your BDC how you wish. I have mine set at 300 for the main crosshair, 200 for one crosshair up and 400 for one crosshair down. That is with a 55 grain bullet.
With a 69 grain you'll have to do some math and experiment to how the BDC works for you.
The downsides of the scope are obviously price, weight, and the crosshairs other than the main one are a little thicker than I would like.
For reference I have shot 3gun with a TR21 accupoint, and an ACOG TA-11 previously.
