I spend over a year in Iraq using one on over 100 missions and never had to change one out......  The 1000 hrs has to be on the highest setting and you won't use it too often especially if you use the aimpoint at night......  So, expect an extremely long time.....  The only problem you might run into is accidentally leaving it on for long periods of time....  That will of course drain it, but as long as you remember, you shouldn't need batteries too often....

I've had my ML2 for four 4 years.  It is on an average of 8 to 10 hours a day four days a week on patrol. When I get in my car for start of shift I turn it on an leave it on for the shift.  Its still going strong.   During day shift it is on setting 7 or 8.  On swings and graves its on setting 4 or 5 unless I turn it up on an entry so my weapon light does not drowned it out.  One of my Sgt's has had ML2 for 6 years I dont think its on as much as mine but he still has the same battery as well.   A few guys with Eotch's sometimes leave theres on by mistake and end up replacing batteries all the time.

4 years and it is going full blast.  I have an extra that I'll put in sometime in the decade.
