I've got a Newcon 1500 I've put through its paces. Like most LR's, its max 1500m range is for "ideal" conditions. I've gotten accurate readings up to 800yds during the day but I've never tried it at night which is supposed to extend the usable range. Easy to use, can be set to read in yds or meters but isn't very precise for close-in accuracy (ie: won't read 50yds *exactly*). Good unit, I've got no regrets. HTH...
