I've been through a bunch of different scopes (Millet, Burris, Leupold) and think it's time to just bite the bullet and buy the ACOG I probably should have bought to begin with.  My primary usage will be the 100 yard targets at my range, possibly some 3-gun competitions down the road.  No combat usage.  This will live on my 16" flattop.

I was looking at the TA31F?  Would that be the best model to go with?

I'm all about the TA31F.  That's what sits on my 16" range gun.

TA33R-8, best bang for the buc @ 100 yards.

I just picked up a TA31f for my 16" 6.8 SPC that I will be using for 3-gun and tactical rifle matches.  I am mounting my Docter Optic on top of the ACOG for the CQB stages.  I can't think of a better set up.

I've been using a TA47-6 on my RRA Entry Tactical.  I'm GTG all the way out to +200 meters.

Any problems with the 4x magnification being too much at 100 yards?  How about @ 50 yards?

You will be pleasantly suprised at 100 yds. 50yds is a joke....I can't say enough about the TA31RCO.

Do you have the Doctor sight on top?  Curious how bright the little red dot is for such a small sight.

Nope, 4x is great at 100 yards and great at 50 yards.  Inside of 25 yards is when it becomes a little too much, but still manageable with both eyes open shooting.  I was considering adding a doc red dot to my acog setup but ended up trading it for an aimpoint/3x mag setup (had 2 TA31Fs).  The doc is nice close-in because of the 7moa dot.  Real easy to see.  I wouldn't add it to my other gun because it's just a range shooter.

The TA11 and TA33 are the best choices if your going to use the optic for three gun.  All of them will work great but the eye relief on the TA11 and TA33 makes them a little faster.

I vote for the TA33.  To me, it is as capable as the TA11 in a much smaller (and somewhat cheaper) package.  The more flexible eye relief gives it (and the TA11) a decisive advantage over the 4x models for anything practical or dynamic.

TA11 for the extra eye relief  but with training the TA31 is workable. I know where one of each is for sale with Larue mounts at a great price if you decide.
