I am an Eotech newb. Cut me some slack on my stupidness.

I see ads for the 511 and 512. These are the non-night vision compatable models correct?

What is the 510 model? Is it an older model but still non-NV?

510 uses "N"  batteries.  512 uses AA's, lasts longer.  512 is about an inch longer too.

510 has no metal shroud and no rubber face plate.  The 511 and 512 both do.

Sorry to correct you, but 510 refers to the "Law Enforcement Series" that includes the 511.A65/1, 511.FN303, 511.LL-Sage, and 512.A65/1.  These are all in the "510 Series".  They all include the aluminum hood and rubber covered buttons.

The 550 Series is the military series that includes the 551.A65/1, 552.A65/1, 553.A65/1, etc.  The 550 Series all include an extra 10 night-vision brightness settings for use with any night-vision device.

It was the 500 Series that lacks the hood and the rubber covered button, as in the model 502.A65/1 that is now discontinued.

FYI - the .A65/1 refers to the standard 65-MOA circle with 1 MOA center dot reticle.  The first three numbers of the order code indicate the model, then the latter portion indicate the reticle design.
