I am not interested in any other sight, Reflex opinions only PLEASE.

What are your experiences with the Reflex ? Which model do you have or have used ?  This will be mounted on a flattop M4gery with a flip BUIS.

Inquiring minds want to know ....  TIA.

If you don't want any other sight but the reflex, then stick with the iron sights.

I tried the Reflex II with the amber triangle for awhile.  It sucked.  Wash-out in bright light....like sunlight or white walls.  And who really shoots outside, or works CQB where there could be white walls.

Rediculous filter had rediculously fine threads.

Got rid of it ASAP.

I agree...bought one with a carry handle mount and had it for a few years.  Not worth the $$$ IMHO.

Thank you Gentlemen ! You have relieved  eliminated my curiosity with the Reflex sight.

(I own an M2 and a 552, I was looking for input on the Reflex exclusivley and I now have my answer , without the typical badgering that seems to be going on around here lately. Thank you all again.)

One of our officers has one on his carbine for some T&E.  He really likes it.  I have used it a bit and I like  my old CompM much better.  I was experimenting with the wash-out shooting inside to out, I found that the included polarizing filter helped keep the dot visible, but it was slow to manipulate.  Of course, you could just make it opaque and use it as an OEG.  I like to concept, it is small and compact.  I would like to get one of the RX09 models to try, it has the chevron and the light stick port also.

If you are really set on having no batteries, look at the 09 version, or just be aware of the potential shortfalls.

Before you count it out entirely find out which version they were using and when they had it. The new versions have been redesigned in certain ways. Also the RXO9 model has the port in the back for a light stick.

I am looking to buy one now, and I've been reading a lot of reviews.  It seems like this site gets a bad rap from the Internet lore folks.

I want one for a shorty "truck gun" that can be tossed behind the seat and forgotten about, but will always be ready.  The Reflex is small, rugged, lightweight, and has been well regarded by those who conducted a thorough review.  It is instantly ready (turning on an EoTech would SUCK when defending a sudden attack) and the Reflex does not need to be adjusted during operation (what's worse, dinking with your AimPoint brightness knob in changing light or the unlikely wash-out of a Trijicon?).  I think the washout problem has been overstated, especially with the "II" version.  It looks like the amber triangle or chevron are definitley the way to go.  Mine will go on a flatop with Weaver mount and used with a low-profile gas block (no iron sites).

Good luck and let us know what you decide.

+1

Had that and sold it, went to an EoTech and never looked back.  If you want something from Trijicon, get one of their ACOGs.

There's nothing 'unlikely' about the reflex II's dot (triangle in my case) washing out, they all do it.  How many pics have you seen of  our men in Iraq or Afghanistan using them?  I'd bet, if you can find a pic, that the ratio is better than 100:1  Eotech or Aimpoint  to the Reflex.  There is a reason why people who know what they're doing don't use them any longer.  The were ok, but the technology has progressed.

The reflex II was the first optic I bought for my AR, way back when I was a complete noob to all this stuff, and even then I used to find myself at the range on a bright day going 'where the hell is the dot?'.

And what the hell are you expecting to happen while you're in your truck?

Yeah, I guess fumbling with turning an optic on is not something I'd want to do during a heated battle.  But then again, I wouldn't want to be futzing around behind the seat of my truck for a rifle that's covered in old slim jim wrappers either.  And if you happend to be somewhere where you might get ambushed (kandahar or south central LA), wouldn't you want the weapon up front, with the optic on, before you get to your AO?  I must be missing something.

you will see troops in iraq or a-stan carrying what uncle sam issued them or personally bought optics. the trijicon reflex is not widely used but that is more due to the above issues not its quality. I had one and loved it, unfortunately it was a casualty of an iraq deployment

Thank you for youor service to the Great Nation .  Sorry to hear about the causlty to your Reflex, hopefully YOU were not a casuality.

I had one with the 12 MOA triangle.  Overall, it is not a good optic compared to the Aimpoint.  I liked the triangle and it cowitnessed very well with the ARMS mount, but the sight picture was too dark and the recticle could wash out in some circumstances.  It was a legitimate option before Aimpoints had such ricidulously long battery life, but I would not look at them now.

Why do these things hold their value so well if they are such crap?  I see them all the time on here, Manufactured in 2000 - $355.00 shipped and so on.  I have been shopping for one for my SAR-1 (Truck Gun) for a year now and I can't find a deal.

Usually when something is widely regarded as junk, demand falters, and as a direct result, so does the price.

I had a 12.5 MOA Triangle one time.  I wouldn't count on it in a fight, but fun to plink with.

I mailordered mine from DSA a few years ago, without ever actually seeing one in person.

I was let down the moment I took it out of the box and looked out the window.  Almost complete washout.  The supplied filter made it to where you could see the dot, but not anything else.

It is still mounted on my FAL, but that is because I'm not rich enough to drop another few hundred $$ on a replacement.

A pic in this thread illustrates the washout issue very well

I have used it and would rather have a cheap china crap dot. There is no way I would use one again if given a choice.

there is a decent red dot sight from OKO, it has the metal shell option and a tape switch, when you grab it it is ready. The Tri power is a decent sight for them who dont want battery's, but at that price why not go ACOG?

I cant begin to bash the reflex sight  to the level it deserves. It was by far the worst sight at any price I have ever used. I told my buddy this same thing no more then a week ago, three days ago he bought one, two days ago he decided to sell it and get something that worked.

I'm no expert, but it dont take a astronaut  to know that sight is crap when they look through it

I have the Reflex II with 12 min triangle. It is a good optic, not a great optic. For me, it works better on the carryhandle mount, it needs to be out infront a little. Yes it will wash out some times, but when it does I can see the front post. But the main thing with the Reflex, you have to shoot with both eyes open. If you can't, you need to get a scope. The optic does not work well with one eye. jmo
This is my 6lb 4oz carbine.

I traded a $200 comp m for mine. If you look around and make an offer, you can find a deal.

As bad as it is, y'all oughta try the Ring Sight on the PS90, it'll make the Reflex look 10 times better

They had a PS90 at the last local gunshow.  While I didn't get a chance to see for myself, the people beside me who looked through the scope commented that they thought it was broken.

The more I think about my reflex fiasco, the more annoyed I get with Trijicon for putting out an obviously flawed product.  They ought to have a buy-back program...

Does anyone have their reflex sights for sale, since they are so widely "hated", "flawed", "inferior"???

I might be interested in purchasing if the price is right.

A popular socialist auction site is awash with new and used Reflex II's.  I came here to read opinions of them before bidding.  I'll pass on the Reflex II.  Sounds like a new or used Bushnell Holosight (made by EoTech) is a better deal for the same money.

Thank you for all NO BS posts, for and against, the Reflex II.

Had a Reflex II on my AR and didn't have any washout problems.  I liked it but the lense diameter was too small for my taste on a "both eyes open" sight.  I switched it out for an Aimpoint ML3 because of the 30mm tube and stuck the Reflex II on my 870 shotty.  It's perfect for a shotgun.

MadDog, I dare say that you did not perceive any problems with the Reflex, but they are there and they are real, whether you recognized them or not, the issues with Reflex are not opinions of some of its users base.  What are the chances yours is different and special, and without the washout problem?

A battery powered EOTech 552 retcule can be washed out when it's in a darker area, pointed to a brighter background, it's worse with a Reflex, its tritium lit reticule isn't very bright and the fiber optics don't have much light to gather and project to the blue tinted glass.  At least with an EOTech one can turn up the brightness.

I like them, never had a washout problem where a Comp or EOT wouldn't have either unless you had them on full blast. Everything has its pros & cons even Comps and Eo's and it comes down to personal preferance and what works for you .

Pros.

Small and compact.
Never needs batteries.
Is always ON and ready to go.
Self regulating brightness.

Cons.

Polerized Filter can be a PIA.
