Your YHM riser is probably their 1/2" riser. If thats the case, you're right, the riser is too high. Get the LaRue EoTech mount or RRA copy of the same mount and you will be in business. Other than that, just take the riser off and put the EoTech right on the flat top.

Post a picture. Much like new-arguy already said, it sounds like you are using the wrong riser, but if you are using the YHM Eotech riser, they fit and function fine, so there could be another issue,

Dang... I feel like I am running 6 months behind. I didnt even know YHM was making an EoTech specific riser

 Here is a pic of one I played around with. I still think you are on track with him having the wrong riser.
