What about this setup? I DONT direct want alignment of sights & center dot,  I would like sight in lower 1/3 of  the view. I really like my upper as I had Kurt install a phantom on my barrel. Or should I just geta another upper?

Here are some pics that I have of mine, don't know if it is any help for you. I like this mount very much, and it adjusts for co-witnessing also either centered or lower one third. The B Casey 8 in dia target in the midst of these pics shows that I had no problem scorching the paper at 100 yds with this set-up. Speaking of set-up, it is a breeze to put together.

If you plan to mount your optic directly on to your standard M4 handguards [or, even utilizing a bolt-on rail], your handguards will cause your zero to wobble.  On one upper I have they do this about 15-20 MOA.  They seem to be pretty good standard M4 handguards.  Of course, if you are intending the red dot to merely be a CQB or low light battle sight under 100 meters, you'll  be OK.
