No, it's made to be virtually invisible to your naked eye.  To put it another way....If you see it with your naked eye during NV mode, (at least with a Gen III tube) your going to bloom your NVD and possibly put a burn mark on the tube with prolonged exposure. During normal operations with any NV type reticle you should'nt be able to see the reticle with your naked eye.  Hope this helps.

Edited to ad, on the 553 or 552, when you select the NV toggle, no matter what brightness level you select, you should not be able to see the reticle with your naked eye. This is the purpose of the NV setting that only a NVD see's it because of the issues above.
