I'm in the market for a budget optic. Currently I have an old (I got it used 7 years ago), beat up Tasco World Class 4x40mm scope, which I was conent with until I got to look through a Leupold Rifleman at Walmart (damn that was clear!). I've since looked at the Leupold VX-I, -II, and -III, and can't tell the difference between them in clarity (might just be my eyes...). Being a broke college student, price is a big consideration for me. I have a 20" flatop AR-15 that this will be going on.
The reticle on the Multi-Shot looks great for target shooting. I'd have a red dot in the middle of the bull, and a circle around the bull. It also seems like it would be acceptable if someone breaks into the house at 3 AM (this is a minor concern; I live in a good neighborhood).
Do any of you know how clear the optics on the Mueller are? Is it similiar to the clarity of the Leupold VX-I? Also, do any of you know of any other good, ballpark $200 optics that I should consider?
