Hi E_Publius,

1. Tighten tell they are nice and snug.  

2. I get out a piece of thick string, tie it to something tall, tie a fishing weight to the end and let it hang, I get a Level to level out the rifle, place the scope in the rings a level it, Look through the scope and how the horizontal line look compared to the string hanging down, if I need to adjust it to the reticle to string I will.  If it all looks good I tighten it all down and reconfirm with a level and the string.  This is what I was shown.
