I figure I should be able to get a good deal on a used 552 then. I guess I have to wait till March.

I for one won't be going to the 553 because it doesn't give me anything I want over my 552, especially with extra cost...

In fact I may be looking out for good deals on a pre-owned 552 when the 553 comes out.

i will pick one up, as for all the arms mount throw lever hate, im sure 80% of it is unwarrented, but a possibility. i have roughly 7 items that use arms throw levers and i havent had a problem with them, but then i dont fiddle with stuff all too much, i set somthing how i like it and leave it.

though i must sat i think i will fiddle with the new 553 quite a bit, as ive never used one on a riser.

Don't count on it. There are some folks that don't see the 553 as an improved version of the 552.

Matt_B, that's an interesting comment considering no one has actually seen a 553 yet!
Optically and performance wise, the 553 has nothing over the 552.  The 553 is just a 552 modified to meet the specs of the USSOCOM community.
The 553 will be unveiled to the public at SHOT Show in Las Vegas next week.  Eh, sorry. I mean later this week.

Nope. I don't have anything else with CR123 batteries and I like having the option of having the EOTech absolute co-witness or lower 1/3rd co-witness.

I'll stick with my 512 and will think about buying another 512 if I get the funds to buy another optic.

Pictures of the 553 have been posted on this board. The ARMS throw levers and CR123 batteries are not preferred by some 552 owners.

I'll Pass on the 553.  I don't see any extra benefits of owning one.   My 552 does a perfect job for what I need.

Is Larue Working on something to replace the Shitty Arms mount that will be on the 553?

If so I would probably get one.

I would think that due to the low profile and mass of the EO and the dual levers that it's probably reasonably tough given the application.

I wouldn't mount an aimpoint in a simgle lever and I think that scopes due to the principle of the lever are more prone to generate the pressure required to shear the levers.  Still The one thing that seemed bad about the 553 is the rumoured mounting higher than 554.  that would be no good as the 554 is as high as it can be and still provide a cowitness.  Not saying you need one but sometimes you might want to leave the irons up when your not expecting anything to happen and don't want to fiddle with brightness every 4 hours.

Looking at the 553 pics it looks like the ARMS mount is basically part of the sight housing.  It doesn't look like a LaRue conversion would be an easy thing to do...

I would but it comes with the shitty Arms mount built in. For this reason I will pass.

ARMS HATER! ARMS HATER! ARMS HATER!

Sorry, thought someone else should get called that for once.

I plan on it.  I prefer using CR123 than stocking 2 different size lithium batteries.

OK, I'll admit it.
I already have one on backorder.
