I have a Bushy 20" stainless, with removable handle. I want to keep the stock front sight and use the removable handle as the BUIS (that is, until I win the lottery, in which you won't SEE my rifle for all the optics I'll put on it!*), and mount a scope atop the flattop.
There are a lot of ways I could go: remove the front sight, replace w/ gas block and picatinny/front sight, replace with gas block/flip up sight, ad nauseum.
Other options are to simply add the scope to an offset mount (to miss the front sight) or mount the scope to the handle. Trouble is, it's a large scope and putting it on the handle puts a lot of mass at the end of a long lever, if you know what I mean.
Does anyone have any other suggestions? Oh yes, I have a (rather cheap) red dot scope I'll use also (see lottery note above), and the front sight obscures it.
*Money is a BIG objection... especially as I'm spending a lot of it on 'more important' stuff like bullets, mags, and strippers.
