The original flip-up sight, as I know it, looks like this:
 But I have also seen it where the front sight flat (from the hinge to the dog ears) has two flutes in the front and two flutes in the back. What's what? |

I've seen one with the ribs in it once or twice. I dont know what they are for or if there's a difference, but I believe its just a different mod to the same sight.
