For some time now I have been considering putting a Leupold VX II 1-4x20 on a 16" or 20" flat top for use out to 300 yards max for general range shooting and a coyote if lucky.

I recently noticed that Leupold has a VX I 1-4x20 Shotgun scope.  The differenc besides glass quality is price, heavy duplex and paralax set at 75 yards.  I should note here that I cannot find out what the paralax is set at on the VX II. I am assuming that is one of the differences because the Leupold website does not list the paralax for the VX II but it does for the VX I.

I go to Cabelas today to compare the two side by side.  The guy behind the counter is trying to convince me that the VX II is the way to go.  He says that with the VX I I will not be able to shoot beyond 75 yards.

Am I correct that this is total BS????

Would shooting out to 300 yds be tough with paralax set at 75 yds??

The VX I is $179
The VX II is 299

Is the VX II worth the extra cash in your opinion????  In the store even the guy behind the counter had to admit that glass quality didn't seem to be that great of a difference.

I appreciate the input.
