Neat concept!  I wondered how long it would take for someone to do this.

I have some experience with generic laser rangefinders and my impression is that this will be a waste of money depending on its intended use.  Real things of interest in the field generally don't reflect laser light well for a solid range estimate at the longer ranges where you need ranging.  Perhaps the higher end units by Leica do better.

I think the claim of 550yd ranging on a deer is under highly ideal circumstances.  My Bushnell rangefinder can't range the side of a hill past 350yds...
