Avoid the BSA Platinum scopes from SWFA. I have one 6-24 and it's a POS as it would not hold zero!

I have a Leapers 4x scope with MilDot reticle, has Green and Red illumination, holds zero very well, rubberized coating w/flip-open lens caps, got it probably 2 years ago around $60. I'd recommended, I use it on my Bushmaster M4A3 & Colt Match Target Hbar 20"

+1 on the Leapers mildot 4x scope. Just got one from natchez for $29. great cheap scope.

I use an NcStar 3-9x that I picked up for about 50 dollars, though now I think they are going for 70 or so. This is not a scope I would take to combat, but for varminting or range plinking its done me extremely well and I couldn't be more happy with it. It's been great at return to zero after removing / attaching the cary handle, has very decent glass quality and uses standard 1 inch rings for the flatop or carry handle mount. The only problem with it is the extremely crappy illuminated reticule which casts a heavy red glow inside the tube, but at least the reticule is fine. And for 50 bucks, who cares?

Anyone know anything about this ATN 5x33 illuminated reticle scope? I may be able to pick it up for under $180.00 nib.

The ATN's are OK but I find that these scopes are heavy. But if you are not concerned with weight than go for it. I personally want some thing that has much better clarity in low light.

I passed on the ATN after reading a post by a former owner of this scope.
I ordered a Simmons 6x20x40 from Cabelas. They describe it as a Varmint scope and I wanted a high power scope for target and varmint shooting. Jim |

For 100 yards and less, how about the Simmons ProDiamond from CDNN for only $50!!! Do a search on ProDiamond and you'll find some very favorable reviews right here on ARFCOM. Spend another $60 on an Armalite 1-piece mount, and you're set for less than your original budget for just the scope!

Thank you for all your advice! I ended up going with a T168 Scope from Clearview investments... so far I really like this scope, I wish the eye relief was a bit longer... oh well... no biggie. Image is nice and sharp, and it looks like its buiit quite well! can't wait to go shoot it.
