I get a lot of calls and email about recoating optics. So I thought I'd take this opportunity to answer a few of the most ask questions.
Yes, you can re-coat optics. How ever you SHOULD NOT use any thermal cured coatings. Optics, electronics, some plastics & synthetics will not tolerate the temp required to cure these coating with out causing damage. Only Ambient cured coatings are recommended for optics, electronics, some plastics & synthetics.
For scope knobs they can be masked off or misted to blend in with the optic. Personally I like mine misted heavily. On Camo finishes we mist them lightly unless it is requested for us not to.
Here are two examples of an OD green refinish, the first one is a USO with the knobs taped off. The second is a Super Sniper that the knobs were misted.
