Will the LaRue PVS-14 mount fit any of the yukon monoculars? Could the yukon be easily modified to work? Thank you in advance.

+1 I would also like to see the specs to the Yukon monocular. |
|
|
Have you found a Russian NV that can focus close enough to share with a dot optic?
|
|
Off and on, I've been drawing up mounts for lower end NV monoculars to mount behind a NV compatible EO or Aimpoint. Never pushed it past that but I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking like this.
As far as the Yukon and the LaRue mount goes, I'm betting there's a bit of custom work that would need to be done to make it work, but it may be doable if the person was properly equipped and motivated. |

I was thinking of one like this:
link or on of these link It looks like most of them share the same basic body but with different lens attachments. What I was thinking is that the rubber piece around the objective could be cut away like some do for the aimpoint 3x mag. They have an objective lens of 24mm....which makes me think that there might be a 30mm tube under the rubber. But maybe that just wishful thinking. John |

Very interesting, too bad they don't sell the 1x NV monocular by itself. I think I would prefer the 1x with EOTech over the magnified verisons. Keep us posted if you get one of these... |

Really hard to say if the LT PVS-14 mount would fit. Would have to be a trial and error thing I think. C4 |

Wouldn't a 2x work better? Red Soldier has the 2x Yukon for $139.99 shipped. You could get the rifle mount for $49 and get the appropriate riser for the EO Tech.

You may be able to clamp on the front lens housing, but I'd not bet on it.
Here's another option: Link |

Thanks for the links. Thats a really good price. I also spotted this on the site: Link Not too expensive so I can replace the first one if I ruin it. I'd really like to do the co-witness thing if I can since I have most of the set up already (for work). If I go this route I will keep you informed. Thanks.

I had the same model last year. It would work with red dots and focus but you have 0 eye relief. Your eye has to be right behind the unit.
If you look at the base the mounting holes are off center. In the pic the unit is fliped upside down for use with the head gear. No the LaRue PVS 14 mount will not fit, the front objective is to large for the mount. I guess you could slowly cut the rubber away to make it fit. The Yukon 1 thru 4 power units all use the same body. They just change the head to fit your power needs. the 1 and 2 are the same overall. I spent some time playing with mine. It worked OK but would not provide the deep or long range distance I needed. The dark corners was another problem I found, it would not see into corners very well. |

Messing with Cheap night vision in my experience is a bad idea.
I had an ATN night sight for $550 and a ANPVS-4 for $1200 in 2nd generation + and the ATN was a damn joke and the PVS 4 was the heavy bastard they are and not all that clear while it did have plenty of light amplification. Now I have a PVS14 with Gen 3 Omni 5 pinnacle tube [filmless autogated] and it absolutely rocks. I think it will be a while before better night vision is availible outside that really expensive four tube 80degree goggle. I spent $1750 on the first two and had a lot of grief selling them both for about a combined $400 loss. It's not worth the time and money buying cheap night vision. |

Unbelieveable....arfcom continues to amaze me, no matter how obscure the topic or question, someone always has the answer.....

Nice improved FAL iron too.
Feel free to give any reports on Yukon clarity, like how far away can you count fingers on a hand, etc. Full daytime green clarity is not expected for the price, but more detail on relative quality would be nice. |
|
Yes this is why I love arfcom!
bobfried - how does the short eye relief treat on the FAL? |
|
i can get the yukon stuff for anyone who wishes to experiment
i will get it for them on the cheap, less than on my site tactical supplies co |
|
Looks neat bobfried good thinking on the cheap saves money.
I had a machinst friend modify my factory rifle mount so it would sit behind my aimpoint. I need to dig it up and post pics. Your idea is pretty good using the vikings mount. BTW your LMT is purple. |

We have them in stock & the work well. We also have the waterproof ones I stock.
Yukon W/ Eo551 and LaRue mount. Here is a neet little unit also by Yukon that we have in stock. The house in the background is the same one. They are so far the best-cost unit I have come a cross. Very nice, how much? |

http://www.volunteerordnanceworks.com/cgi-bin/store/store.cgi The A2 flip only allows 2 range settings, but gives aperture choice and solves the evil wobble challenge. |

Man I hope one of you guys can make this work. I'm keeping a close eye on this thread...
|
|
how do you like that hogue handall on your Tango Down grip? I have a TD grip and find is extremely comfortable; does the Handall improve on it? |
|
|
I like it quite a bit. My perfect grip would be the A2 but with the finger groove moved up a bit. But since this is an imperfect world this was the next best option. I like the TD grip but it lacks a really good texture or real retention grooves when I am using my bare hands. The handall allows me to shoot the AR barehanded and not have to worry about slip off when I'm full of sweat and dirt. I also found that the little handall made reloading a bit easier because there is now a pressure spot to exert leverage whereas the TD does not. Bottom line: Simple, adjustable, reliable and cheap. |

Hey, Mike, FWIW, I couldn't find it on the website. I looked under night vision. |
