I have a colt sp1 and was looking to put on a Colt 3x scope.  I have found some of them were made in Japan and some in the USA. Does anyone have the years of when they switched from USA to Japan production or anything else you can tell me?  Thanks Flateeg

Don't know of any information available on these optics in terms of specifics on dates of manufacture and who made them.  Far as I know the Made in USA scopes were from the 1960's, and something like 384 were sent to Vietnam in 1967.

Here are some pictures of a made in Japan Colt's 3x20:

I have found a few "made in USA" colt scopes but they seem to be rather expensive.  I have a 4x20 colt scope but thought a 3x20 would be more appropriate.

They do go for quite a bit more then the Japanese scopes, here is one:

I did not pay near that for mine.

I have a few Hakko scopes 4 x 21 that look like the Colt scopes. But I don't have the mounts for them. If you might be able to find me 2 mounts, I would send you a scope in returne

In the event that you can't find a carry handle mount, I believe one inch rings will work for that tube but I'm not 100% sure.

If the 1" rings will fit, you can always try to go with something like this

I've got a "Colt style" scope made by CJA. A friend gave it to me. I think they go for about $50-60 in Shotgun News. I got mine free but still, at $50-60 it's well made for the money.

The bad part about it though is the scope already has the scres in the scope for the screw on mount.

Just missing the mount.
