im wondering what are the PROS/CONS of having a "scout" type optics like what we used to see in M1A flatform...   considering the M8 scout series optics of Leupold...   isnt the scout option will deliever faster 1st shot .....Jeff Cooper scout rifle concept?   please share your ideas on these.

The Leupy scout scope puts the rifle (for me) a tad front heavy and 'out of balance'.

The reticle is non illuminated so you need to go with thicker cross hairs for lower light & speed.

You will probably want to go with a railed forend that is rock solid & mated to the upper
though you can just about get as far out in front as it needs to be
with a La Rue cantilever mount.

So if thinking about speed and money with 2X magnification..by the time you pay for
the scope, a good rail, and mount...you may as well get the 2x ACOG Compact this would give you
speed & illumination...

imo the ACOG will be faster and extend your shooting hours...

You also might want to consider an Aimpoint or Eeotech with a magnifier...
