After doing a lot of searching on the pvs-14, I found an interesting snippet...don't know if I can find it again, but the article basically said that the single battery housing was partly designed for warm weather climates.  Can I take this to mean that the dual battery version may actually perform better in colder climates?  Might be something to think about if a person will be using the unit in bitterly cold weather.

I know durability, and electronics preservation is also in play, but maybe there's an upside to the older, dual battery version.  Any thoughts on this?
