The LaRue EO mount is a great design. It will raise the optic up just enough to offer an even better FOV then if mounted directly to the top rail. It will also place your irons in the lower 3rd of the window. Later if you wish, you can get a Aimpoint 3X mag and mount that behind the EO.
For starters I would just mount it on the top rail and learn to use the optic first. You can later buy the LaRue and raise the optic for faster gun handling if you wish. |

Try and see if you can find some local members that have there rifles set up with and without the mount. Each person will have their own preference on such things, so testing them before hand would be a good idea.

One problem that seems to arise from the EO using the factory mount is that it seems to lose zero. From what I have heard is that sometimes the mount stretches a bit and wont hold completely tight. I know 3 people that have had the problem and have swapped to a GG&G mount. They now have absolutely no more problems and love them.

You can mount it right to the receiver. The LaRue rise it up the EoTech they are nice. You can also go with the GG&G and they will do the same thing as the LaRue but keep it at the same plane and the originally with out one. If you do not plan on taking it on and of just get it with out a mount and it will be just fine.

 I really like my LaRue EOTech mount. It puts the reticle just about the top of my front sight. I have since replaced the LMT BUIS with a Troy folding rear BUIS. There is nothing to obstruct my view of the EOTech. If for some reason you don't like the LaRue riser, I'll bet that some one on the EE will scarf it up before you can shut your computer down. I have mine mounted directly on the rail and like it.

I'm one of those people that needs the riser for the EOTech to fit me right. I'm an Aimpoint guy anyway, though.

Mine sits right on top of the receiver and has been there for over a year. No issues with it and I have no intentions of changing it.

It is personal preference. I had mine mounted flat onto the my A4 upper and just did not like the sight picture (it distracted my eye). So I went with the RRA Dominator, raised it to the perfect height, still can use the irons, but the FOV is clear. A lot of FOV problems can be solved with consistently shooting and training though, I just do not have the time, so the mount was easier.

I switch between a 3 x 9 scope and an Eotech so the Larue mount really helps in my case.
Quick and easy on and off and retains zero. |

Mine rides bareback with no problems.
but that's my own preference.

I prefer my 552 directly on the rail. This way I keep the same cheekweld when shooting with my EOTech and my BUIS.
When I use my EOTech, with both eyes open and focusing on the target, the front sight ghosts out and I never even notice it. Even when using this technique some people still have issues with the front sight. If you're one of them then the raised mount might help. |

Mine sits directly on the reciever rail.
Also have had no problems with it losing zero after mounting/remounting. But then again I don't use a +4 Gorilla strength to tighten it down, so I don't think I'm going to "stretch" it or whatever else is supposedly causing them to not return to zero. |

Thanks for the input. I see that G & R Tactical has a package that comes with a Larue mount. I think that's the way I am going to go and if I don't like the mount I can sell it and not be out any extra $$$.

Jury is still out on the Dominator and Accucam combo...but I like the added height, it puts the fixed BUIS in the bottom 1/3 of the glass which works really well:
