Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Powered Optics for a rifle?

How well do powered optics, eg: Trijicon ACOG, hold up on a CQB rifle as compared to nonmagnified, eg: Aimpoint. I see alot of people with straight 4x scopes on their 16" and 14.5" rifles but it seems that if you are shooting at someone within at least 20 yards it would be quite a hastle. Especially if you use it inside a building at ranges such as 5-10yards. Do the people that have Trijicons on their rifles use the iron sights along the top for CQB?

At 5yds do you even need sights?

For me, 2-3x is the limit for viewing well with both eyes. Beyond that, the views are too dissimilar for my head to process clearly. Practice certainly helps. It will also depend on the problem mix you expect to encounter.

My Leupold 1.5-5x20 is almost 'one size fits all'. Other see the variable as one more thing to break.
