.. or do I have to use the TA12 or whatever it is?

I have a genuine Colt M4 with the removeable carry handle. I can mount the TA01 in the handle but I actually prefer to just use the flat-top. I just purchased a TA01 for about $650.00 which I thought was a really good deal, it's on the way to my house now. So now I need to figure out what is best for adapting it to my flat-top when removing the handle. Currently I have an Aimpoint red-dot scope on the flat-top which I had to get an adapter for that cost like $125.00. I really want to avoid spending a fortune on another adapter.

Thanks in advance for any help.

TA51 will work, but a LaRue mount would be better.

Larue...especially if you plan to take it off and on and want to hold zero.

If you use the TA-51. Put index marks on the the tightening screws and the base after you tighten it.  That way If you take it off you can put it back on to the same tightness.  That way you will keep your POI and save money.  I like the TA-51 because it mounts low.

Larue and ARMS both have low mounts as well.

I marked my TA51 and it still would not hold zero.  YMMV

I would suggest a throw lever mount, good investment to make

+1

I'd try the LaRue as well.  I don't have much experience w/ LaRue other than the BUIS...but when other builds dictate other types of mounts, I will probably save for the LaRue stuff...quality is top notch.  ARMS is nice too, but in my limited experience I prefer the LaRue throw levers.
