I was curious if anyone makes a front sight that tapers toward the top?  I noticed when I was shooting at some distance with my irons that the front sight seems a little big.  I just try to place the front sight evenly accross the target.

What I'm getting at is, does anyone make one that has a point instead of squared off?  I've considered just taking out the front sight and filing it to a point, but I'm afraid it will be off center.  And would there be a significant advantage if there were a point instead of the wide squared off front sight that's on AR's now?

Most just file the tip down into a point.

Get a national match front sight or get a KNS front sight pack.  Armalite makes a NM front sight.

The KNS front sight pack includes 7 different front sight posts with different widths and shapes.  Brownells carries it for $32, part 923-000-038, page 325 in the catalog.
