been to china recently for business and saw some shops there selling scopes such as tasco rifle scopes, ZOS red dots and many other brands like walther and stuff. saw alot of lites and lasers also. they're cheap. some rifle scopes also have illuminated dots also... every scope looks more or less the same, just the brands...

what i want to know is, are these rifle scopes for firearms or just for BB guns like those used in pellet war games? same also for the lasers and lites...

think even saw a replica of the trijicon ACOG, just without the fiber optic thingy on top.
any views on this?

A vast amount of chinese optics is junk, plain and simple, even though it is ostensibly for use on real firearms.  Simmons has some chinese made stuff at the higher end of there product range that's much better than the cheap Leapers crap, like the Aetec.

If you're willing to spend a little more than $100, you can get a Japanese made scope like a Weaver or a Sightron...and they are light years better quality in terms of the glass.

The Chinese are definitely hitting the optics products in a big way, as a lot of scope manufacturers are taking advantage of the cheap (slave) labor.  Even if they use Japanese glass, there are some folks who'll ship the components to China for assembly.  Simmons did that with the Aetec, after they got some good press on that scope.
