A while back I was looking for info on the YHM Eotech riser. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to find much. So I went ahead and picked one up at a recent gun show. I recently put it on my flat top and hit the range. So I thought I’d post some pictures and my thoughts on the riser.

First up is the installation. It’s very straight forward and easy to do. The front blocks slide into the notch of your choice on the rail. The rear screw then lines up with one of the rear notches. I put a little blue locktite on all the threads and tightened everything up. As you tighten the front screws down they force the blocks apart and wedge themselves in the rail notch. Once everything is snug you have a very stable platform. I found it to be rock solid. Be careful though, I got a little over zealous tightening the front screws and snapped off a 2mm hex bit. Better the bit than the screw. I then mounted up my Eotech and headed to the range.

As you can see in the rear view photo the riser puts the Eotech up about ¼ inch and puts the sights in the lower 1/3 of the Eotech window. My iron sights are a GG&G gas block rail mounted flip front and an A.R.M.S. #40 rear. But I think the sight picture would be the same with other brands.

At the range it took about 12 rounds to get dialed in at 50 yards. After that I put about 390 rounds down range without any movement of the Eotech. I’m really happy with the riser. It’s low profile and very stable. It gives me just the right height for a good cheekweld and puts the sights in the lower third if I leave them up. So for the $35 bucks spent and 10 minutes to install I’m more than happy.

I got mine in last week.  Mine came with no instructions, and I didn't notice the forward screws.  I was pissed when I stuck it one, and it moved all over the place.  Once I tightened down the front screws, I was happy (and felt like an idiot).  It is now solid, and I also lock-tited the feces out of everything.  My only complaint is the sight picture with the BUIS has quite a bit of EO Tech in it on the lower half of the rear aperture (which I don't like).  No way around it, I guess, but this was never a problem with my Aimpoint (but I like the EO Tech better, so I can live with it).  Another minor complaint is I wish there were a few more slots for options on where to attach the EO Tech to the riser (you only get one option).  However, overall, I am happy with it - especially for less than $30.  If I take pictures later, I will post them (they look like the above with a different BUIS and I mounted mine further back).

I've been thinking about one of these, but these are the first good pics I've seen.

I'm headed to a three gun match in the morning and a carbine shoot on Tuesday. Between the two I'm hoping to give the mount a thorough test. So far it's held up to about 500 rounds with no problems.

i've picked up one of these and one of the Larue Tactical EOtech mounts.....
the LT is so awesome, but the YHM is 1/5 the price, and rock solid.

So far I've got approximately 1300 rounds and two tactical rifle matches with the riser mount on. I haven't had any problems yet. No movement at all, still rock solid. I'm really happy with it.
