That is a scope made by IOR that bushmaster sells. I had a smaller version made for 5.56 a few years ago. Most people agree that the glass is clear, the eye relief is a little short and the thing is huge but sturdy, at least as far as the very similar 5.56 version.
What do you intend to use it for? |

Mainly just for punching paper out to 200yds.

Should be okay for that. Personally I thought the eye relief was too short and ended up selling it, but that may just be me. I think the one you are looking at is for a .308, not .223. though I never fired mine far enough to check the accuracy of the bullet drop compensator. Personally I want an acog for that, having used other people's acogs, but they are a lot more money than that.

IOR M2 has very good glass. I cannot recommend the Leatherwood I have heard and read to many mixed reviews.

That's the one I had, if you're interested ask Mike (post above you) if he can give you a better deal than SWFA's price. The directions are kind of sucky, you have to loosen the outside screws, not the center screw, to adjust the reticle. Loosening the center screw and mess up the scope I guess. |

I had both the M1 and M2. The glass is very nice, I have to say that. The eye relief on the .223 model is adequate...there could be more, but even with glasses, I could shoot without any trouble. The .308 version is just too short, imho.
The IOR are big and clunky, but they appear to be built like a tank. Leatherwoods don't have a very good rep around here, but I have no personal experience. For $300, though, there are some good scopes out there. You could get a Leupold 1x4 for less than $200 that would be better than the Leathwood, I'm pretty sure. I can tell you without a doubt that a Weaver Grand Slam would blow that Leatherwood away, and cost less than what BM wants for the Leatherwood. You could try a Bushnell 3200 Elite 3x9 in that price range as well. Like I said, for $300, there are some good choices. |
