After looking at the different reticles you posted, I think I actually like the TA31F the best. As far as aiming purposes, I assume you just center the donut over whatever you want to hit? And then with the TA31F, would you put the tip of the Chevron right *under* what you want to hit? Is this right?

Yes for the 100yd shot (donut)
the size of the donut (4moa outside and 2 inside) means you can position the bottom outside ring (6 o'clock position) on your target for 200yd, and the 'hash marks'below that for progressively longer increments of 100.
sounds confusing but actually works quite well
This is the essence of BDC - bullet drop compensation - which "allows you to dial in a range and hit your point of aim without any holdover once the scope is zeroed in"
a feature available on many ACOGs Their webpage has some valuable information on the subject
There is also some great info on BAC- or Bindon Aiming Concept - this is the concept of two-eyes-open shooting where you see the magnified image with the reticle superimposed over the target (see their Flash Demo)
very intersting stuff, and a couple of the features that contribute to the ACOG being above the crowd.
Lastly, I read recently that Trijicon substantially increased their manufacturing capacity a while back and the results are showing in the form of greater availability, and their pricing leveling off.
They are after all not cheap. I paid as much for my TA31 than I did my first Colt LE AR15.
$975 TA31/ $980 Colt (in 2004)
