Is an Eotech mounted on an A1 upper awkward to use?  Does it set up too high?

If i'ts mounted on tope of the carry handle then yes, I'd say it's up too high.

However if you use a gooseneck mount, or have a Troy MRF then it mounts at a good height.

I've tried both gooseneck and on the carry handle.  The carry handle feels different because you can't get a cheek weld but I was still making head shots at 100yds.  The goosneck is much more natural feeling and probably more accurate.  One of the main things to think about is that I was shooting about 1" high at 100 yds, 1" low at 50 yds and probably 4 to 5" low at 15 yds.  I use mine only for hunting so I just have to remember to aim high in close.

Can someone post pics of a Gooseneck setup?

I was going to use an optical acc. on top of my carry handle.
