yer criteria is a lil strict for yer price range is the only reason he laughed at you....basically for what you are looking for yer gonna pay AT LEAST 500+ dollars 500 being if you find a REALLY good deal on something used! for yer price range either a used EOTECH or Aimpoint is yer best bet....but then again this is only if you want QUALITY....if you want some junky scope thats gonna cause you more problems then it is worth then Im sure you can find a cheap scope with BDC and target knobs

I dont want an optic that costs more than the gun itself, that would just be dumb. Anyway, i already have an Aimpoint ml2 but i want something that gives a maginification...I am looking into a leupold or similar.

You only paid $300 for a M4?

TANSTAAFL = There Ain't NoSuch Thing As A Free Lunch (borrowed from Troy).

'Nice' with BDC & Knobs for $300 is a joke.  You can get 'Cheap' with that stuff - but not nice for that price range.

There are a few out there, try this... IOR Valdada 4x24 Tactical. That is the closest thing you are going to get for what you are asking that is serious qaulity.

I'd be willing to bet alot of guys have scopes worth more then the guns they are on! good glass will prolly outlast yer gun anyways...most have lifetime no BS warrantys...and besides if you buy a good scope the resale will still be good if or when u wanna get rid of it....hell I know people who have bought used ones...used em for a long time, then sold em for more then they paid!! just keep yer eyes open for good deals!

Gee, funny thing happened the other day.  I actually found a CQB/Mid-range optic for $500...new!

IOR 1.1-4X26 CRT.  Scope kicks ass!

But for your price range the EOTech would be your best bet.  The Aimpoint will be an extra $100  for the cost of the  mount.

As for your comment about the optic costing more than the rifle as being dumb,  I have several rifles that are outfitted with glass that cost more than the rifle.  Buy an ACOG and you will think differently.

I just dont see why someone would want an optic that costs more than 8 to 900 bucks, when there are so many other options that are available for the m16/m4 rifle, it would be ok if you could afford it but i cant... Now for a good sniper rifle, i can see spending a grand on optics but not a cqb rifle that isnt going to shoot past 100 yards in a close quarter battle situation... I was just looking for a mid range scope that didnt cost very much so i could start on another project.
