When you looked through it was it mounted? You need to mount it, look both eyes open and dim it to the appropriate level. You look at your target with both eyes, rifle mounted to firing position and the reticle will superimpose. Should be damned clear in this situation.

I haven't mounted it yet. But I was looking through it with both eyes open and dimmed it down. It didn't make any difference.

Trust me, you have to mount it. Try doing a house clearing type drill after you mount it. Keep your eyes open with the rifle against your shoulder and good cheek weld. Just like if you were going to close an eye and aim but keep both open. Clear the house with it and you'll see what I mean. Always look fuzzy when you dont mount them.

The larger reticle circle is made up of small red dots. You will quite paying attention to that pretty quick and not pay any attention to it.

Okay, appreciate the advice.
It's a little late now, but will mount it in the morning and check it out. Not ready to panic yet, but I just don't see how mounting it will make the reticle look different. But I will give it a try. Thanks |

Could be the angle you held it at or the distance of it. Mounting it will definately make a difference. I think it could be your brightness too. Try adjusting that.

Agreed. the EOTech reticle take a little getting used to. It is made up of a bunch of small dots. Remember to focus on the target, not the reticle, and to keep both eyes open. Also be sure to where your corrective lensses if you have them. That 65 moa dot is the tits until is take off my glasses. It turns into a blob after that, I might as well shoot from the hip.  Astigmatizm(sp?) is especialy hard on shooters with red dots.

Dont focus on the dot. That will make it very blurry. I know it sounds weird, but once you start shooting with it; it will make more sense.

I do wear glasses for reading and I tried putting the glasses on and it makes it look even worse.
I did notice some smudges on the glass, so I'll clean it up, mount it and play with it a little more today. I bought it from SKD, shipping was very fast, no issues with them. I just hope I didn't get a POS. I do know that all the sight manufacturers are turning sights out as quick as possible, so it wouldn't surprise me if QC is lacking somewhat. |

Okay, just went back to the gunshow again today to see if anyone was selling an EOTech that I could look at/through. Couldn't find any EOTechs, but a dealer had a Bushnell Holosight and the reticle looked the same, kind of fuzzy.
So I guess mine is OK, maybe I just need to get used to it. I looked at the tacked thread of views through some of the various optics. On page 5 and 6 there are some pics through an EOTech and for the most part the reticle is clear and defined. I just expected mine to look like that. Kind of disappointed it doesn't. But, again maybe I just need to get used to it. |

Mount it and if it still doesnt look like those pics posted contact Eotech about the problem. I never looked through mine before it was mounted so i dont know if that is normal or not. Good luck! |

Shoot it for a while. Get it zero'd in. I love mine. I can hit with it consistently at 300 yds, and I've shot targets as far as 560 yds.

I bought a 552 from SKD Tactical and got it a week ago. I had the same ghost rings (about three of them) at the 10 to 11 o'clock position from the main reticle. I posted about this last week and did recieve one post from a member who said that while he was talking to an Eotech customer service rep about a problem he was having (different from ours), the service rep almost immediately asked him if the was having multiple ghost reticles? This led the board member to answer my post and alert me that 1) there may be a problem with new Eotechs or 2) that this is just a common question. I think its the latter, because two days later I tried my Eotech one more time before sending it back, and amazingly, the ghost reticles were gone. Bottom line, give it a few days of playing around with it and see if you 1) either get used to it and ghost images go away or 2) maybe it needs a little warming up/break in period (seems strange, but again, mine works fine now). Hope this helps, and for what it's worth, I now love this optic.

You are probably experiencing the same problem I am. The dots/reticles on my Aimpoint and EOTech are all fuzzy, but the reason is my eyesight. I have 20/20 vision, but the dots still give me a little trouble. It could be due to an astigmatism, but I am too lazy to go see an eye specialist. In bright sunlight, they clear up nicely. They also clear up when I look through the small aperature on my flip up rear sights. Haven't figured out why, but they do!

I hope and think yours should be ok,, I got a 512.a65 3 days ago, I went to the range to zero it in and it did look fuzzy to me,, I just thought it was normal,, Second day got it perfectly zero'd at 30 yards and was shooting nice groups but still looked fuzzy, today I went and really focused on the two eye open concentrate on target thing,, and it became incredibly sharp, i was wierded out because I though somthing had happened,, but I turned the brightness down a litle ( indoor range ) and just tried to focus on the paper and the 1 moa dot looked like a laser beam.
Ive never shot such tight groups since I got this baby, they really are great,, and target accuqsistion is amazing,, 20 fairly rapid fire shots with a super tight gruop in the target area,, im a total newb and it makes me look alot better than i should be. now i gotta get a acog!! |

I had the same issue and was ready to send it back. To show my outrage, I took a pic with my digital camera to show how fuzzy it is and all that. Imagine my surprise when the picture showed the reticle perfectly defined. More headscratching later I determined the same thing as most others have mentioned. Two more caveats:
1) It's worse at night in dim lighting. 2) It's worse if you have astigmatism. |

I can't wait to get it out to the range. Maybe like most have said, I just need to get used to it, and maybe it just takes a little while for it to just be on and break in. I don't know, but I'll shoot with it a few times and then re-evaluate. Thanks |

I just bought a new 552.A65 from midway. I'm also having the same problem. The halo seems blurry. It's hard to explain but it looks like the halo has flames. I also wear glasses. May be the EOTechs are not glasses friendly. By the way, Midway has this birthday deal. Check it out!!! I got a great deal.

EOTechs look blurry?
 Is that why there are a few thousand threads on this subject?? Tips for first time EOTech users. DO NOT LOOK DIRECTLY AT THE RETICLE! FOCUS ON THE TARGET! TURN THE INTENSITY DOWN! Jeez, I don't mean to sound harsh, but this info has been out as long as the EOTechs have. |

I just thought I'd add, I have astigmatism and wear glasses. My Eo looks crisp when I use it properly. If I stare at the reticle is is blurry but that's not how you use one. FYI DPMS sells Eotech at great prices, look at their catalog or SGN. Price is lower than the website shows. Best price I've seen advertised.
I'm on my 2nd Eo now, a 512 rev F, my first one a 552 is serving in Iraq right now. I've got about a year total use time on Eotechs and like them better for an AR than any other sight I've tried including an ACOG. For a 16" or less I dont think you can go wrong with the Eotech. For my 20 I'll probably wind up with an ACOG for the magnification. |
