Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Question about etching

OK I've read that the ACOG has the doughnut or arrow etched into the glass and that's what prevents it from having the problems of the reflex sights. So my question is why not etch the glass in the reflex sights to accomplish the same thing?
