It's called / ID'd as a Nc 3-9 x40.  It's made for the AR-15, but that's all I've heard.
Anyone know who makes it, or company that sells it?

NC Star.  Unless you're putting it on a 22, don't bother.  It gets rattled out of alignment pretty easily from shooting.  At least mine did.  It works great on the ruger 10/22

ALL: Thanks, that's what I was afraid of -- it sounded too good to be true.  But still looking foa a compact 3x9 for my Ar-15.  Any ideas?

The most inexpensive optic I would go with is the VariX II line from Leopold or a Super Sniper scope.  Don't mess around with cheap optics.
