Which would you go with and why?
which would you stay away from and why?

Aimpoint M2
Trijicon tri-power
Trijicon reflex
EOTech 552

Did I forget any optics in this price range?

Drop the reflex from your list. Numerous issues with washout and such.

Tripower is still untested, but most who have bought one seem to think it has no edge on the Aimpoint, and perhaps a disadvantage.

I like the Aimpoint over te EOTech for how it mounts, I prefer static dots and tube optics, and I like the 4 MOA dot over the 1 MOA dot with 65 MOA of crap distracting me.  Sure its great accros the room, but at 50m its confusing and slow.

But, YMMV, so see if you can try both before you buy. Keep in mind you will probably need a LaRue riser for an EOTech, so that negates the price advantage.

Go with the ML2, unless you have NV then go with the M2.  The ML2 is cheaper.

newbie speaking here so feel free to disregard my opinion.

I like the EOTech over the Aimpoint for CQB or just general target shooting under 200 yards.

I like the 1moa and the 65moa circle, but that's just me.  It also seems to have a better eye relief, but again, that's just me... a newbie.

Thought I'd share my views anyway.

Thanks.

Have you considered an Aimpoint 7000 or Comp series?  It is essentially the same technology, but the waterproof depth is 7 feet instead of 75.  I've seen as much as a $75-$100 price difference over the M2 models which will buy another accessory, mount, or a good bit of ammo.  Something to think about.

Another vote for the Eotech.
Sold my Aimpoint & bought one.
Nothing faster for CQB for me & I don't find the ring distracting at all for distance shots.
Oh yeah, Jack's right, will need a riser to work the irons properly.

Hey an EOTech w/o the LaRue is like a Hamburger without Cheese.  Sure it's good - but it can be so much better...

AIMPOINT ml2 is your best bet for an optic

I prefer cheese too, but not on my rifles. I actually like the EOtech mounted DIRECTLY on the reciever w/o the mount.

Unless you laxtose intolerate

Aimpoint or EoTech  are really the only two viable choices.. Try to take a look at both and see how they work first hand then make a choice..

I am with DOA on this issue.  I like the EOTech on the rail. Call me a purist when it comes to co-witness. Besides, my EOTech does not have an issue with loosing zero when remounted. YMMV
