Its smaller and lighter and costs less. Thats what it does better than a full sized ACOG.

haw far do you plan to shoot?
if it is inside 200 yds i would go with a red dot and BUIS. |

The field of view is smaller and that can get you killed. Full size only for me.  |

About half as lighter and ~30%~40% cheaper. You do give up a lot of FoV.
My dad has 3x24 and its maginifcation is essentially the same as my 4x32. However, when I look through the 3x24 after looking through mine, it looks like as if I'm looking through a drinking straw. |

 The field of view is exactly the same - the same as using NO optics. ACOG's are used with both eyes open - you have FULL FIELD OF VIEW |

I thought only the ones with BAC were intended to be used with both eyes open.

You can use many scopes with both eyes open and have them function in a BAC mode, even when they aren't designed for it. Give it a try. |

Considering 99% of the Compact ACOGs have BAC it isn't an issue. |

You can shoot any lowpower scope both eyes open. Some of us can shoot high power scopes with both eyes open too  Anyway, the loss of FOV with the mini should not be an issue as fight4yourrights said. just my .02 |

At 200yds I find myself with both eyes still open......even when using my 3.5-10 variable at any power lower than say 6x. |

I've been doing a lot of 300 yard shooting lately with a variety of scopes, and even though I usually have both eyes open, the brain turns off input from the weak eye (or I ignore it) so I can concentrate on the scope. I get similar results at closer range, but I'll double check distances. I know this happens under 200 yards. The picture from the weak eye just does not match up with the scope eye, so I often close it to avoid extraneous input. One of my Russian scopes is a joy to use because it is designed to have your eye right up to the eye cap and it has over a 60 ft field of view at 100 yards. |

I hava a TA-31F that is going on my "Recce carbine".
For my "general purpose" 16" barrel AR, I was going to use an Aimpoint. This rifle will be for use up to 200m. So, for CQB and medium ranges...Aimpoint or mimi-ACOG? what mag? The 1.5X has the best eye relef, but the 3X would be better at long ranges...the 2X would seem to be a good compromise, but would the Aimpoint be better at CQB but lacking at the longer ranges? |

Compact ACOGs are listed in the GSA catalog (US Gov't supply catalog), so any unit could order some if they wanted.

So, umm, where's the pics? I cut my teeth shooting an AR with a TA44-R4. Well, maybe not my real teeth, but it was my first time shooting an AR. Come to think of it, it might have been my first time shooting a centerfire rifle? Or was that the MG42? Wait, BATF-E says MG42 is a machine gun, not a rifle. So AR15 was the first. Been hooked ever since.I shot that thing for 3 hours before I relized it was magnified. So I was born with BAC baby!

I love my 3x24 C acog. I had a 1.5X version, but this is better. I use my Eotech for sub 100 yds, but 100+yds the acog is superior. The only issue I have is the small eye relief. My M93 is on the second notch to shoot. I still love it, tho.

I wasn't sure which to mount on an M4A2 but came across a T47-2 compact NIB at a price I could not refuse. It has not let me down.
