I am building a 16" barrel precision truck gun.  Scope will be used but I want BUIS just in case.
I am leaning toward the Night Force 2.5X10NSX in LARUE SPR Mount. I would like to use the standard front sight with a Daniel Defense 9.5FSP.  My question is will I see the front sight in the scopes field of view? If so I will go with one of the folding front sights.  Anyone have a similar setup that can give your experience?
Thanks
Jim

Many threads on this.  From what I remember, pretty much anything magnified will fuzz out the front sight.  If in doubt, gasblock and flip sight it.

Power above 3x will fade out front sight.

If you are far from the scope at lower power you will see the front sight.  As you get in behind the scope and actually aim and look at the target it will vanish.

I have a Leupold 2-7x on my RRA and you can not see the FSB at any setting.

Okay folks....I had the same question but now some specifics....I am building a 20" and currently have a ARMS #59 SIR system mounted with a standard front sight post-leaves me about 1 inch of height difference between the SIR rail and the front sight post of the front sight. I am planning on putting a 3X9-40 scope on it.

My specific question is...can I mount the scope low enough so that the scope reticle is even with the front sight without interference? Now common sense tells me it obviously cannot go lower with the front sight mount interfering but is that possible??? Sounds silly but I want to make sure it's not an option...my ultimate goal is to mount the scope as low as possible.

Thanks for any advice/comments.

Mike

You probably don't want to hear this, but if you want the scope mounted lower you should get rid of the SIR.  You could do with a Larue, DD, KAC, Troy, etc that will not raise the scope above the level of the flattop receiver.
