The 115gr OTM follows the trajectory of 168gr match .308, until the first noticeable difference: at 600m the 6,8 is 4 inches low. Is this (168gr) the load the M2 is calibrated for?

Im not sure I just assume that it is in the general range of each caliber. I have read that the 6.8 follows closely the trajectory of the 62 gr. 223 round, I think.

6.8 is almost identical in trajectory to 168gr .308 and 77gr 5.56.

I think .308 will be a lot closer. IIRC the 5.56 scope is calibrated for M855, which is very dissimilar to 6.8 in trajectory.

6.8 Trajectory = .308 Trajectory + or - about and inch out to 600 yards when comparing the 115 gr 6.8 and ball .308.

Not your question, but I have a IOR M2 for 5.56, and these are OUTSTANDING scopes--perfect for the AR-15.
I admit, I had not even considered this scope, overlooking it in catalogs. But when I had the chance to actually handle an AR-15 equipped with one, I was convinced. I like the rangefinding scale, easy to use. And when the owner explained the zeroing, use of the BDC, lit reticle, etc, I was sold. The rubber eyepiece looks funny, but works great. Any of you that have not looked at the IOR M2 before, do so. |
