I was looking for something else and my local shop had one of these in the cabinet:

WOOHOO!

(I apologize for the #19S - got to get another TA51 or a Larue.)

new-arguy,

I f-'ing hate the ARMS ACOG mount, and I've got 2 of them.   They get progressively looser when removed and replaced on the same upper, and it seems like whenever I put one on another upper, it's too loose to stay in place.

Like I said, I apologize for posting with the ARMS mount, it's all I had an extra one of in the parts box.   Any ARMS #19S fans are welcome to make offers on the two that I have.

My three TA11's live on the plain-jane TA51 mounts, which are simple, low, and reasonably repeatable.

inkaybee,

Jensen Arms in Loveland Colorado.

I'm in ther about once a week.  I always try to peek in the optics case to see if there is one.  Congrats

Zak,

Congrats, nice score!  I found a TA-31 a month ago.....it was a good find and a good price for the current market.  I had been looking for over a month before I found one.

Spend the extra coin and go with the LaRue ACOG mount, you will thank me later.  All 3 of my TA31's are riding on LaRue ACOG mounts.  I had a TA11 on a LaRue mount and it had a slight "over bite" (cosmetic, didn't effect proformance), but the TA31's and TA01's fit perfectly.  I've been running the LaRue ACOG mounts for the last 4 or 5 months and can't say enough good things about them.

When I compare the height of the TA51 to the ARMS, I prefer the lower height of the TA51.

The Larue is closer to the height of the ARMS, right?

sweeeet!

I also have the TA31 and love the donut.

By the way what BUIS is that? I am using the ARMS 40L, and while I havent actually had to use it, I dont like the looks of it.

Zak-Smith,

I eyed that same ACOG but since I had just bought a Bushy/LEO  rifle from them I certainly didn't have the cash for it (BTW that was a GREAT price they had).  They said they have some more coming in too!  So maybe if I save up a little they will actually be in stock.

So it has the donut reticle?

I did use the ARMS #19S at RM3G in 2003 - you can barely make it out in this picture-

Atilla_223,

Yes, it's the base TA31 model, donut.   Aiming points should be identical to the TA11.    I've used the TA11 for over a year; it'll be interesting to compare the two side by side on similar rifles.

It happened on mine also. But.....

The reason is the rail that the ARMS mount mounted on ISN'T mil spec. In this case, the dimensions of the rail are larger (fatter). As a result of that, once the ARMS mount is put back on another rail (mil spec), it is unstable.

Because of that NON MIL SPEC rail, it has permanently screwed up the ARMS mount as well also.

That could very well be the case, however, the TA51s get used and the ARMS don't.

I like ARMS stuff also.

But when it comes to ACOG mount, I prefer the Trijicon factory mount.

For me, it is SUPER SOLID and RELIABLE.

And will not make any marks on the uppers (which I care a lot).

Isn't that the TT 3 Day Pack??

I am not sure, but I think amuroray was referring to the top rail not being mil. spec. not the ARMS  mount.

If that makes any difference.

Amuroray, Im not trying to flame you...but thats what we hear EVERYTIME from the ARMS appologists when we have this discussion.  As far as I can tell, the belief is that there is NOT ONE SINGLE COMPANY OTHER THAN ARMS making a rail thats in spec, including some that have Govt contracts.

Lumpy196, of course I know you are not trying to flame me

However, at my case, I came up this verdict ONLY based on my ARMS mount and the upper (which I got at a show a while ago and I don't know who made it, and was cheap). Therefore, I believe my ARMS mount is in spec this time, and it worked well on my COLT M4 upper before.

I give credit to whatever is good for my system setup, and not the brand name.

Yeah, it's the TT 3 Day pack.

The TT pack is more comfortable for light and moderate loads than the Kifaru due to the padded straps.  The TT's suspension is simpler too.   The Kifaru is king for heavy loads, however, especially if you use the hip belt.

I used the Kifaru pack at the ITRC and it worked very well.. on one day we carried 21 30 round mags and another 550 rounds of 45ACP in it.    Being able to zip open the entire panel makes it way easier to find the right gear quickly.

In summary, if I'm going for a day hike, I'll take the TT.  If I'm carrying a lot of gear, I use the Kifaru.

Now I can actually use the optic.   I could slip the ARMS with hand pressure.
