What scope should I put on my SPR? I am looking looking for something compact, w/ target turrets, mil-dot reticle, and of course rugged. All suggestions will be taken into consideration. Thanks.

I am thinking something smaller than ten power. Like a fixed 6,7, or 8 power. Also a smaller OBJ lens.

Why a fixed power scope, they can be limiting at shorter ranges.
And 42mm objective ain't all that big. You could go a 3-9x38(or is it 36) or a 2-7 or something if you want. Avengeusa whats the specs on that lupy? Whats the clic value, total MOA adjustment and all that? |

This particular rifle will not be used over 500m. On average it will probably see more use 300-400m. I am going for a lightweight design and a more compact scope.

Nightforce all the way! I like the NP-1RR reticle. I'm putting a 12x-42x 56mm on my wifes AR-50 with the NP-1RR reticle.

For the 300-400 range there really ain't a need for mil-dots. With a 50 yard zero yer pretty much point and shoot to 225m give or take. Holdover wouldn't be to much more difficult for the exta 75-100 yards. Didn't know lupy had a 1.5-5 illuminated. Gunna have to hit their site and check it out. I use a 1-4X20 on my M4 clone. I like it but an illuminated retical would be nice for low light. But I might just go with a 1.1-4 IOR don;t know yet. |

10x AO is the 'standard' for 'sniper' weapons...
Good enough for the M-24, good enough for... Remember, the purpose of a 'SPR' sort of gun is long range accuracy, a sub-10x (max) scope is severely undermagnified.... But then again, if you're going to shoot M193 or M855 out of it (a/o 'heavier' loads)... |

OK I see your point about not needing mildot for rangefinding but I was going to use the Mil dots for hold over points. Maybe I will have better finding a compact with a BDC instead. I will take a look at the IORs. Does anyone have a webpage? |

www.valdada.com/ check around but I thought I heard something about them adding BDC to the 1.1-4x26 but not sure if it happened or not. The site I gave you is not the greatest for info. but it has the scopes and rings and shit all listed on it. |

I think I like the IOR 4x24 Tactical with the Druganov reticle. If I understand it right, It is geared for a 62 gn. round. Has anyone ever shot out to any distance using this cam system with XM193? How close was the cam system?

You should be able to get it for both 7.62X51 and 5.56x45. I haven't used one. I'm not big on fixed power scopes unless it's a red dot scope so I can;t help you out on that one. |

The 5.56 version is geared for a 62gn round. So my question is has anyone tried that cam with a 55 gn bullet and what are the results? |

Tried it with 77gr and it was close, had to adjust back 2-3 clicks from the marked setting at 600yds for proper elevation. Drop for a 77gr bullet at 600 yds (with a zero at 100yds) is 100in. Doesn't mean squat for 55gr loads, but if you can find the drop of a 55gr bullet at the same range you may be able to fudge it in and make note of it somewhere so that you can refer to it later. Probably take some playing with and documenting to get exact numbers, though. |

Nightforce NXS 2.5 - 10X. I personally like the NP1 reticle but they have several to choose from. I believe these are the PERFECT scope for an SPR. So long as they ride in a LaRue SPR scope mount anyway. If you look in MSTN's industry section he has an ad for them. They are really awesome.

I use alot of 6x42 and 2.5x10x42 IOR`s and have had tremendous success. NO FAILURES EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 I cannot say that about Leupold.

I bought a Super Sniper 10x for mine and I regret it...
It's a great clear accurate scope mind you, but it's not flexible enough.... I envision my SPR as a general purpose rifle that I could use out to 600 yards on a target, but I'd also like to be able to use it to quickly engage targets from 50 yards in. Thats why I'm going to probably get the Night force 2.5-10x scope (in my recently purchased Larue scope mount). For now I've a 3x compact ACOG to use, but that's going on my brother's gun once I finish it. My point is that you can get too carried away with magification, and a variable power scope is much better for the real world use of a SPR |
