My A.R.M.S., Inc booklet tells me, "A full spacer is required if direct off flat top."

I'd have to agree.  Thats the only way I've ever seen them.

newbe is correct, you'll need the the full or newer "cantilever" spacer which has become very popular, here's one from ARMS own site:

Or you could get the high LaRue mount or wait for them to put out their cantilever.  But if it must be ARMS I feel the high or cantilever spacer is a must have.

I found that I like the 1/4" spacer on my flat-top. Co-witnessed the dot instead of having it above the front post as with the 1/2" spacer.
