Ok, i found one, and ordered it....havent gotten it yet. Give me your impressions on the scope...How does it compare to the aimpoints and Acogs??
I also have a Comp M2 on the way....when i get both i will give you my opinions on each, but in the meantime...i want to hear other's experience with them. |
I have one of the "flawed" ones I got last year, and have had no problems with it. I certainly like it better than aimpoints. I recently got an acog though, because I found myself engaging targets past 300 meters and the magnification is nice.
tri-power is still very nice though, especially when your using it with nightvision none of the other models are even comparable |
I got one, don't know if it's flawed or not, also have an Aimpoint and a Reflex II. Tri-Power found a home on my dissapator and the other two are in a box somewhere. Love it.

I have a tripower bought from SWFA recieved it after 4 months of waiting. Haven't mounted it on a rifle yet (going to go on a yet to be built SBR,)So I can't report yet. The mount setup I selected is pretty much identical to the way I have mounted an aimpoint ml2 (aimpoint cantilever mount.)

Mine should be in Monday. So I will go out to our range then and sight it in/shoot a few hundred rounds. I will post what I think Monday night.

The Tri-power suffers from one MAJOR flaw...muzzle side signature! Until they fix this issue, I will NEVER be stocking them... C4 |
muzzle side signature??
im rather new to optics. so im not sure what that means. |
Besides muzzle side, it is not as well water proofed as EOTech or Aimpoint. the reticle is still not bright enough for 9v combat light in low light. The tri-power plus one is too much solution for a non-existing problem. I stick to either an Aimpoint or EOTech.

Ok I got a Tripower Last night , and came home all ready to mount it and did. Well, the standerd mount that come with it sucks. I put it on my M4 A3 and its too low. I called Trijicon today and the tec people said I could buy a ARMS mount for it and I could also buy risers. They have two sizes both 7 dollars and ARMS mount is 100.00 (quick through lever).... So now I need to buy this 100 ARMS mount and risers because the sight itself seeems too low and when mounted is right on top of the front sight and the front sight seems to be alot in he way of a GOOD sight picture. just woundering if amyone else had that problem....???????????????? LOVE THE SIGHT THOUGH

I think what Grant is saying is that there's something on the TriPower that's illuminated or reflective that can be seen from the front (muzzle side). That "signature" gives away the shooter's position, and thus, makes him vulnerable to return fire.
i thought a tripower was a sort of go faster setuf for the ole vette
grant, will the addition of a killflash minimize this signature?....and second, is there a killflash available for it?? The description of the tripower says that it is threaded to accept a Killflash, but does not state which model....I wonder if a standard 30mm Aimpoint KF will fit? |
I cannot say for sure. I imagine that the Aimpoint ARD would fit it. Another problem with them is cost. They go for around $400 and you can get an Aimpoint ML2 and M2 for MUCH cheaper! C4 |

Well, like i said, i ordered both, each factory new..
M2 for 340 shipped (from super secret owes-me-a-favor source) and the Triji for 460 shipped. I guess i will see which i prefer. |
Kill flash is to eliminate any reflection from those semi reflective coating necessary on the red dot sight such as Tri-Power or Aimpoint. Muzzle side signature is whole different animal. even if the Aimpoint kill flash will fit the Tri-power, it will not eliminate the problem. the muzzle side signature will still leak through the honeycomb deisng on the kill flash. the device was design for whole different purpose. Muzzle side signature isn't that big of a deal if you are a recreational shooter, you will not go bump in the night looking for bad guys. the signature is not a good thing to have. and if you go on patrol, you're usually sling the gun or in a low ready, the signature isn't a big deal, if you engage a target, your muzzle will give way more then the Tri-Power signature. unless you are fighting a special kind of war, you are probably okay. of course you are paying big buck for a red dot sight, you should get the best. Get an Aimpoint if you like the Tri-power look. or get an EOTech and don't worry about either the muzzle side signature nor any semi reflective lens coating. |

No they don't have a killflash for it yet. I emailed them about 2 months ago and was informed that they were concentrating on other project currently and didn't know when it would be available. My Aimpoint killflash is to small for the Tri-Power it has about 1mm all the way round. I'm jonesing for one as I type. I just got a TA11 killflash, new design that clips on and doesn't use the rubber badn. Don't know if I like it yet, seems sturdy enough. |

Carl, you just gotta love that view from the cabin! Looks like the Blue Ridge to me! oh yes, nice rifle with a Tripower. M-Forgery/new Tripower owner |
According to fedex.com the tripower will be here tomorrow.
And i believe the M2 is coming on wednesday.... rock on...i love presents. |
My tri-power had to go back because of the redish tint. I got it back 2 weeks ago and I'm waiting for my arms buis and throw lever mount to come in tommorrow to complete my rifle. I will post pics when I get it together.
By the way, I paid only 389 for mine. I would have bought two, but it was the last one. Trijicon said they don't have the killflash for it yet. Does anyone know if there are flip up covers for the tri-power? |
you might just want to size up the ends with a caliper and buy some generic flip ups.

I got mine today and am happy with it. The tritium lighting at first did not seem bright enough in the dark, but once my eyes got adjusted to the dark it worked fine. The fiber optics are great on them too. So far, I think I am happy with it even though they are more expensive than other red dot sights. I plan to go sight it in later on this week and see how well it actually works "in the field". Has anyone actually used and abused a Tri-Power and seen how well they work and hold up?
Wes |
Has anyone actually used the TriPower in the dark? Does the tritium glow bright enough for varmint hunting, home defense, etc.?
Thanks, Wes |
Indoors, dimly lit, the tritium seems to be plenty bright. Nighttime varmint hunting it would work also.
I agree with ARin. Pleanty bright with the tritium illumination at night. No worries about dead batteries here. |
virtual, exactly like an aimpoint....but just a different shaped and sized vertual reticle.
The fiber optics do a great job of preventing daytime washout. I have not yet had mine wash out.
Wes |
Now im really fuckin' confused (as usual).
Others on other Tripower threads have said that the rectical on the Tripower washes out easily in the daytime sun. |
I dont own a Tri-Power but have messed with one quite a bit over the last couple weeks. Outside, in daylight, I doubt you will have much of a problem with washout. However, if you are in an artificially lit area (indoors) and you look out into a daylit area (out a window or doorway) you will get washout pretty easy. The same can be said with working in a dimly lit environment and using a bright flashlight like a Surefire. The tritium is not bright enough to overpower the bright light. These instances are the same problems that people had with the Reflex II. This, in my opinion, is the very reason you have the battery and cylume stick back up. If you are working at night using a light, or working indoors and it is daylight outside, power up the battery. At that point the reticle can be lit as bright (maybe brighter) than an Aimpoint. Other than those or similar lighting instances, just leave the battery off and work with the fiberoptics/tritium power sources.

Anyoneone know if it (Tripower) will work with my LaRue Aimpoint mount?
Havent tried the LaRue, I have tried the PRI though and it works. I will try the LaRue tomorrow and report back. But Im pretty dang sure it will work being familiar with the dimentions of both.
Im sure that any Aimpoint mount will work with the tripower...my cantivelver mount worked fine.
I had issues with daytime washout. Las Vegas Desert, noon sun, light colored sandy surroundings....it would take me a second to even find the reticle, with or without the additional battery power. That was unacceptable to me. So she is going on the EE....if anyone wants it, let me know. I have heard from a triji dealer that trijicon is working on making a polarizing filter to help rectify the washout issues. Other than that, i think the scope is superior working in artificially lit environments, or in darkness. Very crisp clear reticle, and i prefer the chevron to the 4moa dot of the Aimpoint. |
Well, you guys confused me soo much... I just bought the fuckin' thing. $460 shipped on Ebay. If I dont like it when I compare it to my Aimpoint, I'll let you guys know.
Welcome to the club! I really like mine, you just have to know when to use your backup light source, fiber optic, battery..etc. The chevron is great. YMMV |
like i said, the ONLY time i had problems is in super bright sunlight, with a whitish backdrop...otherwise the chevron is crisp and clear is almost any light conditions...there are very few conditions that warrant the usage of the battery...the fiber optic takes care of it 90% of the time.
I have it under good authority that Trijicon is in the process of developing a Polarized filter to clear up any washout issues. |
Yeah Bucko, it looks like a well thought-out improvement of the Aimpoints best features. And its always cool being the first kid on the block with the coolest shit aint it?
Yeah, I know...But I can gaurantee I will be the first on my "block" (My department) with one. And you know, way back when the Aimpoint first came out, there were soo many critics. We may be starting up the Tripower trend right now as we type!!! Soon we will be telling all others "we told ya so"!!! |
