Ok, You guys are starting to get to me.  I've all but decided not to mount the red dot I've picked out.  So many of you guys have "Eotechs".  I have to know something before I do any thing else.

[center]HOW MANY OF YOU WHO OWN AN EOTECH, HAVE HAD A PROBLEM WITH IT?
I've spent a few hours reading the various posted topics refering to the Eotech, and I have noticed alot of you have mentioned various problems.

The damned thing looks good, and I like the options you have with it.  Alot of good has been said about the Eotech, but more than any other optic discussed there has been negative also discussed.  Alot of you have said they have good customer service, and they get the things back to you quick.  I would rather not have to worry about sending them in.  If you know what I mean!

Ditto.  Same model.  I've had mine just under 2 years and have had zero problems with it.

Iv'e had mine for about 8 months and I am still on the same batteries as when I got it. (was used)
Iv'e never needed to use the bright settings even with the blazing sun in my eyes. No problems with light rain or 100 degree heat with 90 percent humidity either. I am using a Bushnell (EOtech) holosight.

I have the 511A65, still on it's original set of factory batteries a year later, it does warn me of low batt when turned on but I'll keep them in till there're dead. I dropped it off my work bench onto my shop floor about 15 minutes after I brought it home with no damage noted except a very small ding to the hood which I touched up no problem. The rifle has fell over onto the EOTech when proped up against the wall, no damage, held zero. I'm happy with my purchase!

1-552 and 3-512's.  No problems.

One of the 512's is now used on a Socom .458 upper with NO problems.

Look through one first.  My mild astigmatism makes the reticle look like a star burst.  Dot is fine.  60 moa ring is not.  ACOG on the other hand is crystal clear.

Like a charm.

I've had my 552 for a little more than a year now with zero problems.  I just changed the set of batteries that cam with it last week so more than a year on the first set.

I had it mounted on my AR10 for about 9 months and then moved it to my preban m4gery.  It has been far and away the best sight I've ever had.  The only thing I'd trade it for is an ACOG.

I have a 512 AA on my 308.  My wife has a 552 AA on her M4gery.  No problems at all, and we shoot every day.  Yeah, batteries don't last 10,000 hrs like the Aimpoint.  So what?  2 AA batteries are a helluvalot easier to find than those lithium thingies, and it's not like they take up a lot of space in the rucksack.  I really like the Eotech's built in mount, I really like the ability to cowitness without having to buy some extra gadgets/spacers/special mounts.  I really like the reticle.  Precise enough to engage targets at well over 200 yds and the donut of death is big enough to do some really fast target aquisition.  It all comes down to preference.  I prefer the look and handling characteristics of the Eotech over any of the dot sights on the market.

It all comes down to the old Ford, Dodge, Chevy debate...same-same GI, buy what works for you.

Yeah I messed with it a bit, it's pretty neat. My buddy's got a cheap surplus russian military 1st gen monacle that must weight like 48 pounds on your head.....  but still, it looked the way the reticle normally looks except white and for some reason you couldn't really see the body of the sight itself, so there's just this white reticle just floating in mid air.

I'd like to see it sometime with the PVS thing attached to the rifle, but I don't really wanna drop the money on that device for now. Someday though probably

My 512 just stopped working one day about 3 month after I purchased it. Eotech took care of it very quickly under warranty. Problem was faulty electronics.
