I cant tell you what kind it is or where it is from, but working in resteraunts for so long I can tell you that is what they would call a U-10 I think. I dont work in the kitchen so I cant say for sure. But basically, shrimp come in a number of sizes and they are catagorized in how many shrimp it takes to make a pound. The U-10's (meaning only 10 shrimp per pound) are the largest I know of!

 Yep it's a fresh water prawn, I had no idea the fresh water variety could get so much bigger than their salt water kindred Kisara it'd turn purple if it were from Vero Beach

Don't forget they are the cockroaches of the sea. That is definitely a prawn, tiger prawn I believe. Just FYI all prawns are fresh/brackish water. |
